It's finally here! Our third grade program will be this Wednesday, December 18th at 6:30pm at the Centennial High School Performing Arts Center. Just to remind you of the information that came home on flyers two weeks ago, students should come dressed in their tie dye shirt with black bottoms (boys should wear black pants and girls black pants/skirt & leggings or tights). Just to ensure that students outfits look fresh, teachers are encouraging all students not to wear their tie dye shirt to school the morning of the program, but rather change after school. Students should arrive at Centennial Performing Arts Center at 6:00.
All students will be rehearsing Monday & Tuesday at Pioneer. On Wednesday morning students who returned their blue permission slip will be riding the bus to Centennial for dress rehearsals. Please send your student with a sack lunch. If at all possible, please send the lunch in a disposable container. We will not have lunch buckets with us, thus keeping track of lunch boxes and food containers would be difficult.
I appreciate all of your efforts to assist us as we put this wonderful program together!

T-shirts & Other Announcements
Most of you have already sent in a white t-shirt with your child so that we can tie-dye this week before going on track break, thank you! If you haven't sent a shirt in yet there's still time! Please send your child with a white shirt before this Friday. If this presents a problem, please contact me as soon as possible.
This week we will also be having our 20/20 Reading Club party! For those students who completed their reading logs for each month this trimester, they will have the option to join me this Friday for a pizza party at lunch. I am so happy to see the number of kids who participated and I hope that next trimester brings even more participation!

Regarding Maps to Homes
Yesterday I was out sick for the day and didn't catch a small typo on the homework directions. It says that the map needs a scale showing 1/2 inch for every mile. IT SHOULD SAY draw a map scale showing 1 inch for every mile. I apologize for the confusion!

Upcoming Fall Plays and Other Events
This afternoon your child will be bringing home an invitation for you to attend our in-class fall plays on Wednesday, October 30th at 3pm.
Each student is aware of, and is practicing their parts in class and will be bringing their scripts home next Monday to be memorizing their lines. Please help them to memorize their lines with expression, appropriate facial expression and body language. More information about costuming needs will be coming home soon. I have most props and we will be making more. It would be wonderful if someone had a camera that would be willing to take video of the plays so that copies could be sent home for each student. (If you are willing, let me know.)
Upcoming Events:
October 31st- Harvest party in class
December 18th- 3rd grade program to be held at the Centennial High School Performing Arts Center in the evening (details TBA).

Missing Coats & Other News
Hello!
It seems that students are already having articles of clothing go missing and they have not yet turned up in the lost and found or anywhere in our classroom. It's possible that with so many coats in the cubbies a student may have taken home the wrong one. Specifically we are looking for a boy's green Cloudveil coat and a girl's coat. I appreciate your assistance in helping us locate these items.
In other news, our next Box Tops collection day will be October 17th. As a class we collected a tremendous amount, and I greatly appreciate all of your contributions. Our class would love to collect the most for October, so please be sending those to school with your student.

We have earned a reward day!
Due to outstanding effort and reports from our specials and in class, we have earned a reward day! As a class we had shared ideas for what kind of reward we would like to earn as a class, took a vote and ultimately decided that the reward would be a pajama/movie day where students could bring a blanket and/or a stuffed animal.
This coming Monday (September 16th), is our reward day! Students may wear their pajamas to school, bring their stuffed animal (just one) and/or a blanket. We will watch a 45 minute movie at the very end of the day. I am very proud of them because they have definitely displayed some Positve Puma citizenship!

Our First Two Days of School (by the students of Mrs. Warwick's class)
These are the fun things we did the first two days of school. We learned about writing paragraphs and practiced by writing about our dream vacation. Everywhere we went at school we made new friends. Mrs. Warwick read Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle, First Day Jitters, and Have You Filled a Bucket Today. Mrs. Warwick also taught us about the Star of the Week. We got to meet our class pet Mr. Blue the beta fish and learn how to take care of him. Everyone in class got to earn a Caught Ya Being Great ticket to go in to a drawing at the end of the week for a prize. In math, we learned about making bar graphs and collected information on how we all went home. Together we decided what our class values should be, and we made a poster of them to keep on the wall. These are some of the things we did the first two days of school. That is why we like Mrs. Warwick and we are excited for the rest of the year!

Welcome to Third Grade!
Hello third grade students and families! Welcome to the 2013-14 school year! My name is Mrs. Warwick and I am so excited to be your teacher this year!
I would like to tell you a little bit about myself. I graduated from Boise State University with a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education and completed my student teaching here in the Meridian district. Previously I was a substitute teacher for three years in the district. This year I have the great privilege to be a new member of the Pioneer staff and third grade team! This last June I was married, traveled to Scotland and London, and began building a home. During our free time my husband and I love playing with our two kitties Lilly and Lizzy. I love to read books, exercise, and go to BSU football games to tailgate with family and watch the game. During our first days of school I would love to get to know what fun things you did this summer and what you have fun doing.
Third grade is going to be a very special and exciting year. I have many fun activities planned for us and can't wait to get started! I hope to see all of you at Meet and Greet in room South 7 on August 5th from 4:00-5:30pm where you can drop off your supplies, find your desk, say hello to new friends and meet me!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Warwick
